Korea's Economic Landmark
The Korea World Trade Center which stands 54 floors above ground and 2 floors below ground began construction on March 9, 1985 to attract foreign buyers and support the marketing efforts of Korean companies.
The unique stair-like design of the east side of the building symbolized Korea's rapid economic growth and has since become a landmark in Seoul. The entire outside of the building is constructed with mirror glass and aluminum so it changes olor depending on the weather to blend in with its surroundings.
Completed in October 1988, the Korea World Trade Center was the first to utilized the Fast Track System. This system allowed construction to start with only a partial set of plans. As the construction continued, subsequent plans were completed. As a result the World Trade Center was completed. As a result the World Trade Center was completed within 40 months. A feat never achieved in korea for such a large project.
